*New Information* Easter Bowl ITF B1 Acceptance Process The Easter Bowl 18 and under event has been a closed ITF Grade B1 event since 2005. The same acceptance process has been used each year. Step 1 In an agreement with the International Tennis Federation Juniors Committee, a truncated list of the top 50 Americans on the ITF Junior Ranking List is created. If any of the players on this list enter they receive direct acceptances. The March 10, 2008 ITF ranking list will be used to create this truncated list. In 2007 the 50 th boy wasranked ITF 600. The 50th girl was ranked ITF 577. As has been the case every year, not all 50 players enter the tournament. In 2007, 36 boys and 35 girls from this truncated list entered the Easter Bowl. In accordance with the agreement with the ITF, this is the last time that ITF rankings are used for acceptance or the ordering of alternates. Step 2 According to ITF rules, eight (8) wild cards are available for a 64 draw event. Four (4) of the eight wild cards are reserved for the semi-finalists of the USTA National Spring Championships played in Mobile, Alabama if they are not already accepted in step 1. In 2007, 1 girls’ wild card and 2 boys’ wild cards were used. Unused wild cards revert back to the wild card committee. Step 3 The remaining vacancies are filled with players not already accepted from the Boys’ and Girls’ 18 and under National Standing List in the order in which they appear on that list. The list from March 12, 2008 will be used for this purpose. In 2007, 20 boys and 21 girls received direct acceptance from this list. The last boy accepted was NSL 73 and last girl accepted was NSL 61. Step 4 Alternates are ordered using the March 12, 2008 Boys’ and Girls’ 18 and under National Standing List in the order in which they appear on that list.
Alternates Notification: Players on the National Alternate List will be notified by telephone if they have been accepted into the draw when a withdrawal has been confirmed. If you are planning to attend the tournament, even though you are not in the draw (On-site alternate), you must register as an alternate and check in at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa no later than the following times: For Boys & Girls 14s, 4:00 p.m. Saturday April 5th; For Boys and Girls 16s and Girls 18s, 4:00 p.m. Sunday April 6th; For Boys 18s, 4:00 p.m. Monday April 7th. Please contact the tournament if your flight is coming in after this time and you can not make it to check in at the times designated.
Withdrawal: Before or on the Entry Closing Date (To Be Announced), the entrant must withdraw via the Internet. After the entry closing date (March 13th) it is your responsibility to notify your sectional endorser and tournament committee in writing, fax or e-mail (see above numbers) ASAP so that a National Alternate may be notified immediately. Please remember to cancel hotel/airline/car reservations.
